Notifications
Your ntfy alerts as Android notifications, one channel per category, with topics you can mute and a badge on the app icon.

On Android, the alerts your homelab sends to ntfy can arrive as notifications: a backup that failed, a download that finished, a monitor that went down. They come from your own ntfy server and the topics you set up in Pocket Homelab.
Turn them on
- Set up ntfy first:
NTFY_URLandNTFY_TOPICS(see ntfy). Without it, the Notifications screen says so and has nothing to turn on. - Open More → Settings → Notifications and switch Notifications on.
- On Android 13 and later, allow notifications when Android asks.
Pocket Homelab then checks your ntfy topics in the background about every 15 minutes, the shortest interval Android allows, and posts what is new. The line under the switch says how notifications are being delivered.
Settings
| Row | What it does |
|---|---|
| Notifications | On or off. |
| Sound | Whether new notifications make a sound. |
| Topics | One switch per ntfy topic. A topic switched off no longer notifies. |
| Launcher badge | What the number on the app icon counts: Unread alerts (unread messages from ntfy), Today’s to-dos and Overdue to-dos (from Nextcloud Tasks). |
Channels
Each alert is sorted into a category by its topic and text, and each category is its own Android notification channel under Homelab alerts: Backup, Download, Request, Subtitles, Containers, Network, Monitor, Storage, Security and Other. In Android’s settings for the app you can silence one (say, backups) and keep the others (say, monitors).
Tapping a notification opens Alerts.
